Tappan Zee Bridge

General Background: At 3.5 miles long, the Tappan Zee Bridge is one of the longest bridges in the United States. Located about 15 miles north of New York City, the bridge carries between 140,000 - 170,000 vehicles a day over the Hudson River via New York State Thruway, between Rockland and Westchester Counties.

Gowanus Expressway
Owner: New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT)
Structural Steel Fabricated: 4,000 ton over multiple contracts
General Background: Signs and maps refer to this southern segment of I-278 as the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, but it is known locally as the Gowanus Expressway. This section of the expressway connects the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel approach, the Prospect Expressway (NY 27), the Belt Parkway and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.

Atlantic Avenue
Owner: Long Island Rail Road (LIRR)
Structural Steel Fabricated: 640 tons approx structural steel
General Background: Atlantic Avenue stretches from the Brooklyn waterfront along the East River all the way to Jamaica, Queens and is the sole east-west truck route across Brooklyn. In Flatbush, the Atlantic Avenue Terminal is the converging point for nine MTA subway lines and the Long Island Rail Road.
