Today
the company owns over 85,000 square feet of fabrication area
and 20,000 square feet of paint shop floor area and we are still
expanding our operations capacity.
 |
We
are continually leveraging our experience and technical
expertise to develop innovative solutions at our facility
and in our projects to ensure on-time delivery without
sacrificing quality. We were one of the first companies
in the United States to invest in state-of-the-art, Italian
and German made steel fabrication equipment to raise the
level of quality and production of our shop capabilities.
Our facility |
also boasts an interbuilding narrow
gauge rail system that transports our materials from one operation
to the next in a logical manner through its process steps. This
rail system streamlines our operations and complements our plant's
efficient layout scheme. These are just a few of the innovations
that keep MC Iron Works on the cutting edge of our industry.
Furthermore, we are one of the few facilities that are specified
to provide products to one of the nation's largest utilities
companies. During the 1950s, our predecessors helped develop
and design these highly complex products.
Paint Shop
| The construction
of the new 600-foot by 60-foot steel frame building that
houses MC Iron Works' Paint Shop won a Merit Shop Award
as the best in the Industrial Construction category. This
award was presented to the contractor CC Inc. Construction
Services in November of 2002 by the Eastern Pennsylvania
Business Journal. (1). |
 |
The paint shop in the building is 220-foot by 60-foot and is
ventilated by adequate blow out panels in the roof and walls.
It contains a 120-foot by 20-foot paint spraying area with environmentally
controlled exhaust fans, make-up air units, and the overhead
doors. Six paint walls containing 12 exhaust fans remove possible
harmful inhalants and a VOC (volatile organic component) monitoring
system shuts down air to the paint spraying operation when VOC
levels exceed certain levels. Before entering the paint area,
a pit is provided for the shot blasting machine. Rails are imbedded
in the floor for easy transport of steel throughout the paint
area.
